THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
There is something profoundly important about giving ourselves permission to pause.
In a world that constantly asks us to do more, be more, and move faster, choosing to stop—even for a single deep breath—can feel almost revolutionary. Whether it's five quiet minutes with a cup of coffee before the house wakes up, an afternoon walk without a destination, or a long-awaited girls' getaway with someone who knows your heart, these moments are not indulgences. They are sacred. They remind us that we are worthy of the same care and attention we so freely give to everyone else.
A Sacred Pause was created as a reflection of that truth.
This painting is built from countless layers, each one representing the many seasons, emotions, and experiences that shape our lives. Some layers remained, while others were covered, reworked, or transformed. Much like life itself, the process wasn't linear. There were moments when things didn't unfold as I had imagined, and sections that needed to be started again. Rather than seeing those moments as failures, they became part of the story. Sometimes life simply gets in the way, and we miss the opportunity to care for ourselves. That doesn't mean we've failed. It simply means we begin again when we can. The pause will still be there, waiting for us.
The heart of the painting carries a quiet chaos. Intersecting horizontal and vertical lines weave together, symbolizing the countless demands, responsibilities, and unexpected moments that approach us from every direction. The darker tones in this central space acknowledge that life isn't always calm or uncomplicated. There are seasons that feel heavy and overwhelming.
Yet even here, light refuses to disappear.
As you move around the painting, metallic reflections emerge from unexpected places. They catch the light differently from every angle, reminding us that hope, beauty, and peace are rarely absent—they simply reveal themselves when we shift our perspective. Even in life's busiest seasons, there are still moments of grace waiting to be noticed.
My hope is that A Sacred Pause serves as a gentle reminder that rest is not something we earn after everything is finished. It is something we deserve simply because we are human. The time you give yourself—whether it lasts one breath or one weekend—is never wasted. It is an investment in your well-being, your joy, and your ability to return to the world with a fuller heart.
May this piece encourage you to pause, breathe deeply, and remember that sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is simply allow yourself to be still.
Only one that exists in the world
Can be shipped to any door you want as long as you’re willing to pay for it
It will make your other walls jealous
