A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST

How do you ultimately know what you are capable of until you push your limits by being as fearless as possible? As I painted AFRE 12x12, I reflected on how fear is an emotion that plagues so many of us to a point where we find ourselves experiencing the same mundane and relentless results day in and day out only because we are too scared to try anything new. Most of us have enough insight to know we need to make change but continue to exhibit the same behaviour, expecting and hoping for a different result. So why are we so afraid? Why does judgement of others play such an integral role? And what is it that we need to ultimately make that drastic change and leave cation to the wind? I can’t honestly say that I am fearless every day but I have worked hard to acknowledge my perceived limitations and have made it a point to surround myself with people that will further my development, cheer me on and challenge my boundaries. I recognize that staying in an unwanted place because of fear is cowardly and I am wholeheartedly trying to find ways to step outside my comfort zone because I do not want to be that person that regrets it all. Having been a nurse for the last 10 years, I am reminded every day that life is short and that each of us makes choices to either stay where we are or to show up and transcend ourselves to unimaginable places. I choose unimaginable places. I choose to “be fearless. [I choose to exhibit my soul on canvas for all to judge and choose to keep my head held high despite how it is received.] I choose to make one resolution this year, and that is to live boldly. I control this moment. Rather than cautiously test the water, I dive straight into life with freeing abandon. I imagine the person I want to be and the life I want to live, and simply commit to them both. I believe in myself. I embrace my beauty. I choose to discover my passions. And whatever I do, wherever I go, I am not afraid to make a splash. Being fearless isn’t about being 100% not fearful, it’s being terrified but you jump anyway.” What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
