THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
Layers of richly worked surface build this painting from edge to edge, creating a presence that feels both grounded and atmospheric. The top and bottom are steeped in deep, saturated hues — inky blues, smoky greys, and currents of turquoise that ebb and flow into one another. These darker passages feel expansive and steady, like the horizon on a coastal day when the sky and sea blur into a single breath.
At the centre, the composition softens. Pale whites and quiet greys emerge, carrying a porous, almost gritty texture that contrasts with the smoother expanses above and below. This middle section feels weathered and alive, as if shaped by wind and time. The surface here invites a closer look — it holds subtle irregularities, tiny pockets and ridges that catch the light differently, offering a tactile reminder that beauty is often found in imperfection.
